In 1-3 Canopy Chaos, players are introduced to Cranky Kong and his pogo stick ability. If you want to collect all of the Puzzle Pieces in this level, you'll want to keep Cranky on your back the entire time.

1-3 Canopy Chaos Secrets and Collectibles

Walkthrough

At the start of the level, you'll learn how to grab vines. Shortly after your lesson, you'll see a Turtle pacing back and forth. Stomp on him so that he'll hide in his shell. Then pick up the shell and toss it at the wall on your left.

This will break the shield and allow you to enter the first Secret Room. You have 30 seconds to collect all of the bananas. If you do so, the first Puzzle Piece (1/7) reveals itself.

Continuing to the right, practive your vine grabbing some more until you stumble across the first KONG letter (1/4). The "K" rotates in sync with the giant gear, so make sure to time your jump to nab this letter.

After collecting the KONG letter, jump over to find a "CK" barrel. Smash it to have Cranky Kong hop on your back. You now have Cranky's pogo jump ability, which makes you invinicble to spikes with a well timed jump. Test out your new pogo on the fish-arrow shooting penguin. Then jump down and brave the spike pit. The wall will vanish, opening up a Hidden Cove and revealing the second Puzzle Piece (2/7).

Bounce back to the safety of the platforms and begin jumping up the path. Half way up you will see the second KONG letter (2/4). The "O" is being guarded be another fish-arrow shooting penguin. Take him out and claim your prize.

Grab the vine and climb on up to the final platform. Before jumping into the barrel cannon, use Cranky's cane bounce to get on top of the platform on the left. Pull out the ring in the ground. A spiked platform will reveal itself with the third Puzzle Piece (3/7) floating above it. Bounce on over, grab the piece, and then jump into the barrel cannon.

Time you shots out of the barrel cannons to make it to the first checkpoint. If you've lost Cranky Kong already, there is a second barrel just ahead. Once you have your duo, roll, jump, and bounce your way across the spikey platforms. Soon you will come across four vines with bugs hovering around them. Grab the vines while avoiding the enemies. Between the third and fourth vine you will see the third KONG letter (3/4). Time your jump and collect that "N."

Don't move too fast, the fourth Puzzle Piece is immediately after the "N." Jump on top of the turtle and pick him up. Just to the right, there is a Snowmad sack hanging by a rope. Throw the turtle at the sack. This reveals the fourth Puzzle Piece (4/7).

Keep going to the right, making sure to duck beneth the spinning propellers. Once on the other side of those rotating wheels of death, dodge a bug to jump into a barrel cannon. At the end of the blast, you'll reach the second checkpoint.

If you've lost Cranky by now, there is the third and final barrel right before you. You'll need to keep Cranky for the rest of the level if you want all the collectibles!

The "CK" Barrel is right next to platforms with snail enemies slugging around the platforms. They are slow and easy to beat. Climb the platforms to the upper right, then jump into the wall.

The wall will again vanish, reveal the second Hidden Cove. On this platform, the fifth Puzzle Piece (5/7) shows up.

Jump off of the hidden platform, killing the snail beneth you. Move on ahead until you see the Dodo Bird enemy. Defeat the bird and jump on to the platform on the left. Jump into the wall again the reveal the second Secret Room. Jump back and forth across the moving platforms to collect all of the bananas. If you do so, the sixth Puzzle Piece (6/7) will show itself.

Back out of the Secret Room, it's time to face those propellers. The platform you stand on moves up and down, while the propellers swing left to right. Move far enough to the right and duck, dodging the spinning blades of death. At this point you should notice the final KONG piece (4/4) at the top of a vine. You know what to do, climb up that vine and finish the word KONG.

Hop down the platforms and grab the swinging vine. At the end of the swing there is a barrel cannon waiting to blast you off. Jump on in, launch, and land at the "end" of the level. If you hit the barrel now, you'll beat the level and go on to World 1-4 Trunk Twister, BUT there is a secret exit waiting for you if you know where to poke around.

Smash the Snowmad box on the right to reveal a spring board. Jump on up and to the left you will see the final Puzzle Piece (7/7). Go get it, champ.

How to Find the 1-3 Canopy Chaos Secret Exit

To find the secret exit, go back to the middle platform you were just on. Use Cranky's cane bounce to reach a platform in the far upper right hand corner. Up there is a phonograph that, when activated, plays a classic tune. To the left you'll see a warp portal. Jump inside to reveal the secret exit. This exit unlocks World 1-B Busted Bayou, the game's first silouhete level.
